Jaipur Diaries: Day 1 – Slow Mornings in Jaipur

Fortside Morning

Okay, so our first day in Jaipur started a little slower than planned, but can you blame us? After the long road trip from Bharatpur, all we wanted was a slow morning, some coffee and zero alarms. By the time we finally stepped out, it was already late morning. We decided to head to Amer Fort, because what better way to start exploring Jaipur than with one of its most iconic spots?

Amer Fort, Jaipur

Now, I’ve been to Amer Fort a couple of times before, but this visit felt different. Maybe it was the weather, maybe the company or maybe it was just that we weren’t rushing anywhere for once. We took our time wandering through the courtyards, soaking in the details, sitting down here and there just to talk and look around.

Majestic view from the Amer Fort

Here’s the funny part, we had no idea it was the day before Gangaur, one of Rajasthan’s most colourful and celebrated festivals. It wasn’t until we reached Amer Fort that we noticed the buzz of people dressed beautifully, the streets around the fort decorated, and this festive energy in the air.

It honestly changed the whole vibe of the day. The fort looked extra alive, and Jaipur had that kind of pre-festival excitement you can literally feel in the air.

Late Lunch Goals & Chill Evenings

After spending way more time at the fort than we expected (no regrets, though), we went for a late lunch nearby. I ordered a plate of white soya chaap and a cold coffee, don’t ask me why that combo, but it totally worked. Sometimes random cravings lead to the best meals.

By evening, we were completely done for the day, the good kind of tired. So we just decided to stay in, relax, and plan what to explore next. Sometimes, the best travel days aren’t packed with things to do; they just flow naturally. And honestly, ending the day like that, everyone just talking, laughing, and reliving little moments, felt like the perfect pause before diving into the rest of Jaipur. The evening breeze, soft lights, and quiet chatter made it one of those simple, peaceful endings you end up remembering more than the busy ones.
